Providing Shelter for Those Who Need It Most
At the Royal LePage Shelter Foundation we
are working to put abuse out of commission by contributing more than $7,240,000
since 1999 to help women and children in shelters across Canada.
Statistics tell us that 50% of Canadian
women have experienced abuse and 360,000 children witness domestic violence
each year. Women's shelters provide a safe haven for those who need it
most.
"Royal LePage has been an incredible
partner and friend of Interval House. They have supported us financially and
they have supported us with their skill, their talent, and their drive. They
help us do what we do best, which is care for women and children who are in
crisis and in danger of losing their houses and their lives,"
- Lesley Ackrill, Executive Manager of Interval House, Toronto, Ontario
There are 150 shelters across Canada
supported by their local REALTORS®. These shelters make a lasting difference in
the lives of countless families. Funding has helped create art therapy
programs for children, build a memorial garden, develop job training programs
and cover the costs of food, therapy and much more.
"I have gained a lot from the staff at
the shelter such as self worth, and how to let go of a lot of the guilt I have
carried for such a long time. Also through the self-defense classes I
have come to realize that I do not ever have to be a victim again. I, for once
in my life, feel empowered and I cannot ever express what that is worth to me.
I felt safe here physically as well as emotionally knowing that while behind
these walls, I would not be harmed."

House, Calgary, Alberta
